Basic Green Chile Sauce

2 T vegetable oil
1 cup chopped onion
4 T flour
2 cups chopped mild green chile (or combine with jalapeno for more heat)
2 cups vegetable broth
1/2 t garlic powder
1 1/2 t salt

Heat oil on medium heat in medium sized saucepan until hot.

Add onions & saute them until tender.

Add the flour & cook it until it's browned while stirring
constantly to make a roux.

Add the remaining ingredients and simmer the sauce for 20
minutes.

Makes 4 cups.
