X 5.3.6.2.4 Language Elements That Do Not Accept Windowed Date Fields As Arguments
X Windowed date fields cannot be used as:
- X Data-names in the following formats of the Environment Division
X FILE-CONTROL paragraph:
- X SELECT ... RECORD KEY IS
- X SELECT ... ALTERNATE RECORD KEY IS
- X SELECT ... RELATIVE KEY IS
- X A data-name in the RECORD IS VARYING DEPENDING ON clause of a Data
X Division File Description (FD) or Sort Description (SD) entry.
- X The object of an OCCURS DEPENDING ON clause of a Data Division data
X definition entry.
- X The key in an ASCENDING KEY or DESCENDING KEY phrase of an OCCURS
X clause of a Data Division data definition entry.
- X Any data-name or identifier in the following statements:
- X CANCEL
- X GO TO ... DEPENDING ON
- X INSPECT
- X SET
- X SORT
- X STRING
- X UNSTRING
- | In the CALL statement, as the identifier containing the program name.
- | In the INVOKE statement, as the identifier specifying the object on
| which the method is invoked, or the identifier containing the method
| name.
- X Identifiers in the TIMES and VARYING phrases of the PERFORM statement
X (windowed date fields are allowed in the PERFORM conditions).
- X An identifier in the VARYING phrase of a serial (format 1) SEARCH
X statement, or any identifier in a binary (format 2) SEARCH statement
X (windowed date fields are allowed in the SEARCH conditions).
- X An identifier in the ADVANCING phrase of the WRITE statement.
- X Arguments to intrinsic functions, except the UNDATE intrinsic
X function.
X >_Workstation_> Under AIX, OS/2, and Windows, windowed date fields cannot
X be used as ascending or descending keys in MERGE or SORT statements.

X >_Host_> Under OS/390 and VM, windowed date fields can be used as
X ascending or descending keys in MERGE and SORT statements, with some
