X 5.3.11.3.6 DBCS Items
X The PICTURE character-string can contain the symbol(s) G, G and B, or N.
X Each G, B or N represents a single DBCS character position.
X The entire range of characters for a DBCS literal can be used.
X >_Workstation_> Under AIX, OS/2, and Windows, do not include a single byte
X character of a DBCS code page in a DBCS data item. (The locale you select
X must indicate a DBCS code page. For information on locale, see
X Appendix F, "Locale Considerations (Workstation Only)" in
X topic APPENDIX1.6.)
X For a code page with characters represented in double bytes, the following
X padding and truncation rules apply:
- X Padding--For DBCS data items, padding is done using the double byte
X space characters until the data area is filled (based on the number of
X byte positions allocated for the data item).
X Single-byte characters are used for padding when the padding needed is
X not a multiple of the code page width (for example, a group item moved
X to a DBCS data item).
- X Truncation--For DBCS data items, truncation is done based on the size
X of the target data area on the byte boundary of the end of the data
X area. You must ensure that a truncation does not result in truncation
X of bytes representing a partial DBCS character. <_Workstation_<
X Other Clauses: When PICTURE clause symbol G is used, USAGE DISPLAY-1 must
X be specified.
X When PICTURE clause symbol N is used, USAGE DISPLAY-1 is assumed and does
X not need to be specified.
X Any associated VALUE clause must specify a DBCS literal or the figurative
X constant SPACE/SPACES.
