5.2.7 VALUE OF Clause
X >_Workstation_> Under AIX, OS/2, and Windows, the VALUE OF clause is not
X supported for line sequential files. It is treated as a comment for
sequential, relative and indexed files. <_Workstation_<
The VALUE OF clause describes an item in the label records associated with
this file. The clause is syntax checked, but has no effect on the
execution of the program.

Should be qualified when necessary, but cannot be subscripted. It
must be described in the Working-Storage Section. It cannot be
described with the USAGE IS INDEX clause.

Can be numeric or nonnumeric, or a figurative constant of category
numeric or nonnumeric.
Cannot be a floating-point literal.
X The VALUE OF clause is treated as a comment under an SD.
