X 4.2.5.1.4 Line Sequential Organization (Workstation Only)




X In a line sequential file, each record contains a sequence of characters
X ending with a record terminator. The terminator is not counted in the
X length of the record. When records are written to the file, trailing
X blanks are removed.


X When reading the record, characters are read one at a time into the record
X area until:


X Records written to line sequential files must consist of USAGE...DISPLAY
X and/or DISPLAY-1 data items. If external decimal data is defined with a
X non-separate sign, the sign must be in the preferred sign representation
X (for example, X'39' for +9 or X'79' for -9).


X For line sequential files, the native byte stream file support of the
X platform is used. Line sequential files should contain only printable
X characters and the record terminator.
