X 1.1.3.12 SORT-RETURN

X The SORT-RETURN special register is the name of a binary data item and is
X available to both sort and merge programs.

X The SORT-RETURN special register has the implicit definition:

X 01 SORT-RETURN GLOBAL PICTURE S9(4) USAGE BINARY VALUE ZERO

X It contains a return code of 0 (successful) or 16 (unsuccessful) at the
X completion of a sort/merge operation. If the sort/merge is unsuccessful
X and there is no reference to this special register anywhere in the
X program, a message is displayed on the terminal.

X You can set the SORT-RETURN special register to 16 in an error declarative
X or input/output procedure to terminate a sort/merge operation before all
X records are processed. The operation is terminated on the next input or
X output function for the SORT or MERGE operation.

X You can specify the SORT-RETURN special register in a function wherever an
X integer argument is allowed.

X When used in nested programs, this special register is implicitly defined
X in the outermost program.
