X 1.1.3.6 SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN
X >_Workstation_> The SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN special registers are
X supported; however, the code pages for AIX, OS/2, and Windows do not
X recognize them as delimiters for double-byte characters. <_Workstation_<
X The SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN special registers are implicitly defined as
X alphanumeric data items of the format:
X 01 SHIFT-OUT GLOBAL PICTURE X(1) USAGE DISPLAY VALUE X"0E"
X 01 SHIFT-IN GLOBAL PICTURE X(1) USAGE DISPLAY VALUE X"0F"
X These special registers represent shift-out and shift-in control
X characters without the use of unprintable characters.
X You can specify the SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN special registers in a function
X wherever an alphanumeric argument is allowed.
X These special registers cannot be receiving items. SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN
X cannot be used in place of the keyboard control characters when defining
X DBCS user-defined words and when specifying DBCS literals.
X Following is an example of how SHIFT-OUT and SHIFT-IN might be used:
X DATA DIVISION.
X WORKING-STORAGE.
X 01 DBCSGRP.
X 05 SO PIC X.
X 05 DBCSITEM PIC G(3) USAGE DISPLAY-1
X 05 SI PIC X.
X .
X .
X .
X PROCEDURE DIVISION.
X MOVE SHIFT-OUT TO SO
X MOVE G"<D1D2D3>" TO DBCSITEM
X MOVE SHIFT-IN TO SI
X DISPLAY DBCSGRP
X When used in nested programs, this special register is implicitly defined
X in the outermost program.
